Annie Bush

ANNIE BUSH - Producer 

Annie Bush is an award-winning educator turned filmmaker based in Austin, Texas. Through a history of social service, having spent seven years teaching young people the discipline of Spanish, Annie comes to filmmaking with the experience to forge meaningful connections between films and their audiences. 

Annie received her B.A. in Linguistics from the University of California, San Diego and participated in various community outreach programs in Central America while studying abroad at the University of Costa Rica. She was recently nominated for a teacher of the year award in 2011 and again in 2012 at her previous school, Round Rock High School.

Annie is currently in the distribution phase of her recent award-winning documentary VULTURES OF TIBET (Russell O. Bush) shot in Tibet, China, and India. VULTURES focuses on the sensitive Tibetan burial ritual of sky burial and its recent commercialization as a tourist attraction. The film was nominated for a Student Academy Award and screened at AFI Docs, The Maryland Film Festival, and The Edinburgh International Film Festival. Annie also works in narrative film and her previous project MAGPIE (Russell O. Bush) made its world premier at SXSW 2012 and was called “the strongest of the lot” by Currently, Annie is in pre-production of a narrative feature film directed by Ashley and Leslie Saunders. She also serves as the Distribution & Marketing Coordinator for PJ Raval's feature documentary BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, which premiered at SXSW 2013 and is currently widely circulating the festival market. 

Skilled in promotion and community engagement cinema, Annie uses her educational experience as a storyteller to forge new communication, connecting films to targeted audiences while raising challenging questions that expand our collective understanding.
